Julio Voltio at Fast Eddies Alexandria
Julio Voltio (born as Julio Ramos March 20, 1977, Santurce, Puerto Rico) is one of the reggaeton genre's best-known artists. His nickname came to be as the result of an accident. Before joining Karel, he worked as an electrician. One day, he stuck his hand in the wrong place and got shocked. Everyone then called him "Bombillo" (Light Bulb) and "Corto Circuito" (Short Circuit), until eventually giving him a nickname that stuck: "Voltio" (Spanish word for volt). EventosLatinos.us was there to cover live action. Also see pics for DJ Explosive Birthday. |

Los Horoscopos de Durango @ East Coas Cafe
Los Horoscopos de Durango performed at East Coast Night Cafe in Woodbridge on the night of January 17th, 2010. Here is some background on the band for those who are not familiar with this fantastic band. Los Horoscopos de Durango are one of the originators of the Duranguense sound. Formed in Chicago in 1975 by band director Armando Terrazas, the band is hailed for its trademark use of tuba, drum and sax to drive and ornament the famously bouncy rhythms. Still, Los Horoscopes labored in relative obscurity until the next generation of Terrazases -- Armando's daughters Vicky and Marisol -- were old enough to join. Their father had trained them since childhood for careers in music, and when they began singing as adults, the group's fortunes improved dramatically -- thanks in no small part to the sisters' sex appeal. The band won three Latin Billboard awards in 2005 for Dos Locos, and two -- Best Regional Mexican Song and Best Regional Mexican Album -- the following year. Performance was great, we totally enjoyed the show. And of course EventosLatinos crew was there to cover it. |
